The recent plan to host visitor Brazil for a soccer match with Singapore's S-League selection team in the National Stadium has resulted many questioning whether the National Stadium has really retired.
Many months back, the Singapore government announced the closure of the National Stadium by staging a farewell event. Many National Stadium supporters even made efforts to attend the farewell event or bought tickets to watch the "final" soccer match. I remember watching a video interviewing employees of the National Stadium on their feelings of having to leave after having spent decades working in the National Stadium.
After the announcement on the planned closure, there are actually several events being hosted at the National Stadium itself. The most recent one is the upcoming soccer match between Brazil and Singapore.
I wonder has the National Stadium retired? What is the reason of reopening the National Stadium? Is it for monetary reason or something else?
