I was playing with Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 2005 when I discovered a major bug. Visual SourceSafe is a version control product from the Microsoft.
I found out it is impossible to check in a folder with more than 32,767 files. So, an attempt to check in a folder with 32,768 files or more will result in an error and version revision for files will turn out to be a negative number, -32,767. Now, it would be impossible to add more files to or remove files from the affected folder. Deleting of the folder fails too.
Repairing on the affected Visual SourceSafe database will not correct this unfortunate error. We will need to live with this annoyance unless you remove and re-create the entire database totally but this time round, remember not add more than 32,767 files in any folder.
