Singapore Minister for Finance, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, had a brush with the law in 1992. Mr Tharman was the director of the economic department of the Monetary Authority of Singapore. He was accused of passing the economic growth rate for the second quarter of 1992 to Manu Bhaskaran, an economist at Crosby Securities Pte Ltd., a regional brokerage, before it was announced publicly.
