Okay! Our Singapore President, SR Nathan, has no power to grant pardons under Article 22P of the Constitution after all. Such power can only be exercised by the Cabinet, and this means, the President has no discretion in this matter. All along, everyone including the lawyers are made to think only the President himself has the authority to pardon an accused.
So, what's the role of the President of Singapore? This shocking news must have sent shocking waves across the globe.
